Responsible Gambling in Belgium: The Tools You Can Use

Belgium has some of the strictest player-protection rules in Europe, and most of them work in your favour without you lifting a finger. Every licensed casino caps deposits at โฌ200 a week per site by default, checks a national exclusion register before letting anyone play, and verifies your age and identity with itsme or eID. On top of that, you can set your own limits, take a break, or ban yourself from every casino and gaming hall in the country in a few minutes. This page lists the tools, how they work and where to find free, confidential help in French, Dutch or English if you need it.
Deposit limits
By default you can deposit โฌ200 per week per website. This has applied since 20 October 2022. You can lower your limit at any time, and the change applies immediately. To raise it, you ask the operator, and the Kansspelcommissie checks the National Bank's central credit register and decides within three days. If you are later registered as a defaulting debtor, the limit drops back to โฌ200 straight away.
Self-exclusion: the gambling ban (EPIS)
EPIS is the national exclusion register, better known as the gokverbod or interdiction de jeux. Every licensed online operator must check it before you play, and land-based venues check it too. You can request your own exclusion online with itsme or on a paper form. It blocks access to casinos, gaming halls and licensed gambling websites. You can ask to lift it after a three-month waiting period.
Family members can also ask the Kansspelcommissie to exclude someone, and the Commission assesses the request. In 2024, 12,509 new self-exclusion requests were filed, and by November 2025 more than 194,000 people were listed in the register.

Check the licence
Only licensed sites apply these protections, and only they are bound by Belgian rules on age checks, limits and payouts. Look for the Kansspelcommissie logo and licence number in the footer, and avoid any site on the Commission's blacklist. Our list of licensed Belgian casinos only includes sites under Belgian supervision.
